About Me

I currently hold a Bachelor's degree of Sciences in Pharmacy from the National University of Rwanda.

The university has helped me look at Rwanda from a different perspective altogether. All my life until university, I was exposed to the brighter side of my society, the progress, the urban economic growth, the prospering development, made me feel my country is shaping out to be a better. Of course it is, but the university, so far away from my home in Nyanza, has made me visualize my society from three different lenses – the urban rich, the urban poor and the rural poor. This has made me realize that there is a lot that needs change. There are many people that yet have no access to basic necessities such as adequate health care. No doubt the Government is doing its bit, but it certainly is not enough. It lies on us, the future pharmacists, entrepreneurs and future leaders of the world to effect a change. This has been my motivation behind my work at Social Care Youth Initiative (scyi-rwanda.weebly.com)

As I entered the out of University life, I’ve recognized my passion for Public Health. A habit to continuously analyze things which gets annoying at times has helped me realize the importance of sustainability in social projects.

Monitoring and Evaluating the working of an organization or process, and quantifying success in terms of quality and quantity is crucial to me. My organization has taught me how to evaluate social projects with an additional dimension, the number of smiles the endeavor results in!

Moving ahead from here, I want to continue to learn and face more varied challenges that social projects will have to offer. This time, I’m leaning more towards using this exposure to understand what really moves people, what their needs are, but more importantly, how they want those needs fulfilled. The human contact aspect of my coming years is very exciting for me, and I am looking forward to it!

Thanks!
